#RB84 Blog - For The Love Of The Game

Ryan Broyles Blog

Camp is coming to an end in the next few days. Guys have been putting their heart into this game to perfect their craft. The stakes are high and we have to produce to find an identity on the team. We started camp with 90 guys and the team will soon be cut to 53, pretty surreal. We all have so much love for what we do but the sad reality is not everyone will continue on this team. We have to soak up every minute we have with the guys in the locker room!

I had the pleasure of going to two concerts last week! The only thing better than the atmosphere at a concert is the atmosphere on game day. Concerts are a blast! Oh, and if you think you get to know guys in the locker room, wait until you’re at a concert with them…you get to see sides of them you didn’t even know existed lol. Personalities come to life and everyone has different traits. It is crazy to think how different we all are as humans but that we were each created in God’s image. I spend countless hours with these guys at work but when you’re in public it’s a whole new ball game. We have some real quality guys on this team!

Aside from football and hanging out with the guys my wife made it in to town for a week! Everything fell into place as soon as she landed. I was at total peace, it couldn’t have happened at a better time. As cliché as it sounds she completes me!

Going through camp and not being certain you have a job can take a toll on anyone mentally. Just like in any healthy relationship you aren't complete unless you are with your spouse. We tried to spend every waking second together when I wasn’t in football, naturally. We went to a movie one night and Mary Beth picks ‘The Purge’, I don’t know about any of you but I thought it was pretty freaky haha. It looks like I’ll be picking the next movie ;)

Mary Beth also came to the Jaguars game to see me play and I was all smiles! For as long as I can remember I make sure to spot her out in the crowd before the game. When I see her during the games she is always smiling, waving and giving me thumbs up…its the best motivation anyone could ask for!

God has blessed me with not only the opportunity to play the game I love but to have such loyal and true fans. Without my fans my foundation could not serve the community the way it has. My good friend and marketing professional is helping me utilize the blessing I have been given to do good off the field.

Last week we also started our No Backpack Goes Empty program. My foundation has partnered with California based Yucatan Guacamole to make sure no child goes to school with an empty backpack this school year. My friend Dani brought this amazing opportunity to me. Like myself, she also went to school with out school supplies unless they were donated.

In order to support this we have collected autographed jerseys from my friends, Calvin Johnson, Demarco Murray, Kenny Stills, Frank Alexander, Gerald McCoy and Jermaine Gresham to giveaway. For each entry into the No Backpack Goes Empty giveaway Yucatan Guacamole is donating 50 cents to purchase backpacks and school supplies for the less fortunate.

We hope to see enough traction with this first one to continue partnering with brands and organizations to serve the community and our next generation. Please help us raise awareness for this by sharing my social posts and registering for the free giveaway yourself! Register here.

As you begin your week remember to “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.”

1 Peter 5:7

As always thank you for your support and God bless!
